[Product Characteristics] Barite powder is chemically stable, insoluble in water and hydrochloric acid, and exhibits no magnetism or toxicity. It does not effervesce (bubble) when exposed to hydrochloric acid and is a non-metallic mineral product obtained by fine grinding of barite (BaSO₄) ore.
[Properties] Barite powder is mineral powder obtained by further processing of raw barite ore through grinding, flotation, and other methods. It mainly consists of barium sulfate with a purity of over 97%. Its primary use is as a weighting agent in oil well drilling fluids.

[Applications] It is widely used in petroleum, chemical, paint, filler and other industries, with 80–90% primarily used as a weighting agent in oil well drilling fluids.
[Specific Functions]
1. Increasing Mud Density. Adding barite powder significantly raises the density of drilling mud. High-density mud helps better balance the pressure of underground oil and gas formations, ensuring safe drilling operations.
2. Cooling the drill bit. During drilling, barite powder helps cool the drill bit and prevents damage caused by excessive heat. This extends the bit’s service life and enhances drilling efficiency.
3. Strengthening the borehole walls. Barite powder increases mud viscosity, enhancing adhesion to the borehole wall. This prevents borehole collapse and ensures operational stability.
4. Controlling oil and gas pressure: By adjusting mud density, barite helps control oil and gas formation pressure. This helps prevent unexpected incidents such as well kicks or blowouts, ensuring safer drilling operations.
5. Lubricating the Drill Pipe. Barite powder also acts as a lubricant to reduce friction between the drill pipe and borehole wall. This decreases energy consumption during drilling and improves operational efficiency.
6. Sealing the Borehole Wall. Barite fills small cracks and pores in the borehole wall, preventing mud loss and hydrocarbon leakage. This maintains drilling continuity and operational stability.
