2. Physical and Chemical Properties
It is hygroscopic under atmospheric conditions, forming an orange acidic solution, and exhibits strong oxidizing properties in acidic media.
3. Application
It is used as a raw material for producing chromic trioxide, potassium dichromate, ammonium dichromate, basic chromium sulfate, lead chrome yellow, chrome red, copper chromite red, barium chromate yellow, and chromium oxide green. It is an oxidizing agent for producing organic intermediates such as an oxidant in the production of alkaline lake blue dyes, saccharin, synthetic camphor and synthetic fibers;In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as an oxidizing agent for producing dapsone, benzocaine, folic acid, rifampicin, and other drugs;In the dyeing industry, it is used as an oxidizing agent in aniline dye, a post-treatment agent in sulfur vat dyes, and a mordant in acidic mordant dyes;In the leather industry, it is used as a tanning agent;In the electroplating industry, it is used for passivation treatment after galvanizing to increase brightness;In the glass industry, it is used as a green colorant.
