1. Appearance
Purple or bluish-purple crystalline powder; the 50% concentration liquid product is a purple liquid.
2. Physical and Chemical Properties
It is doorless, non-toxic, and remains stable under normal temperature and pressure. It is highly hygroscopic, with crystals tending to become cohesive upon moisture absorption, exhibiting high solubility in water but is insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and diethyl ether. Combustible, can burn when exposed to high heat or open flame, producing carbon dioxide and chromium trioxide as combustion products. It is combustible and may ignite when exposed to high temperatures or open flames. Upon combustion, it primarily decomposes into carbon dioxide (CO₂) and chromium trioxide (CrO₃).
3. Applications
In pharmaceuticals and food additives, it acts as a chromium supplement to help regulate blood sugar levels and enhance high-density lipoprotein production, thereby supporting total cholesterol clearance, as well as serving as a feed additive, chemical auxiliary agent, and organic reaction catalyst.
